Webopedia: Online Dictionary for IT

Webopedia is an online dictionary which focuses on Computing and IT terms. Here one can search for a computer related item and the result will be displayed. On some pages, the item page will also display some interesting facts as well. Webopedia tries to avoid technical terms as much as possible so that the user will easily understand the definition.

Since technologies change frequently and many new terms are constantly arising, webopedia will to constantly update its information. Users can also subscribe so that they will receive a weekly newsletter with the latest developments. Another feature which is immediately viewed when one visits the site is the “term of the day” section. This is self explanatory and therefore contains a different word each day with its meaning directly under it. One can also find a latest terms section on the front page. This section provides a short list of some of the latest terms in the IT world which can be quite useful when searching for a relatively new concept.

I have been using this site since I was in secondary school and I have always found it useful. In my opinion, the best thing about this site is that the information is always up to date, and I think it is a must as technology changes frequently. Another thing which I find useful is that while I am reading about a certain keyword that I searched about, in the text, there will be other highlighted keywords that one can press to further understand what they mean.
