Fotobabble: Images with audio

Fotobabble is an online resource which allows you to create short and informative videos using images and voice recordings. This could be very useful when used in for example a revision lesson. An image of a particular item could be displayed and in the meantime a short description or explanation can be playing in the background. This would make studying easier as the students would have the image and a vocal description. Besides this, these audio images could also be used during normal lesson to complement an explanation or to summarize a concept near the end of the lesson. By recording yourself beforehand you would ensure that all the main points are said as during a summary a point could be left out by accident. Also the teacher could give the students access to these recordings so that when they are studying on their own and find something which is hard to understand they may revert to these recordings which contain a well explained definition of the particular concept or item.

I like the saying ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’, therefore, let alone what a video is worth. I believe that it is essential to use both pictures and videos in learning as it captures the students attention. Moreover, they are so effective that sometimes all they can remember from the whole explanation is that one picture or video.
